Kim Poyner, RN, Practice Nurse, Health Coach
Kim Poyner has an extensive history working with medical centres and Primary Health Networks to train nurses in behaviour change theory and chronic disease management.
Kim was awarded the 2015 Australian Best Practice Nurse award in Chronic Disease Management and has just successfully completed her American medical exams for international endorsement of her coaching qualifications. In addition, she is training health professionals across Australia in the Health Care Home trial, readiness projects, and Quality Improvement strategies.
She regularly presents at National conferences as a key note speaker on Coaching, Chronic Disease Management, Creating Efficiency in General Practice and Care Coordination. Through her business MediCoach, Kim mentors nurses and organisations to achieve their best, ensuring they are resilient in the changing health landscape.
Dr Sam Manger, Medical Educator, MBBS, BSc, FRACGP, FASLM
Dr Sam Manger is a General Practitioner/Family Physician, President of the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine, Australian representative for the Lifestyle Medicine Global Alliance, host of “The GP Show” podcast, and a medical educator with James Cook University (JCU) and Generalist Medical Training (GMT).
He completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and his undergraduate Bachelor of Science (BSc) from the University of Queensland. He is a General Practitioner and Fellow with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) where he received an award for the highest score obtained in the fellowship examinations. He is also a Fellow of the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine (ASLM).
His passion for health has evolved into reflecting on how to change individual and social behaviour to lead to a more healthy, sustainable and ethical culture. He is a founding National Board Director of the Australia wide Transitions Film Festival. The Transitions Film Festival was founded in 2012 and has screened hundreds of positive and solutions focussed films, forums and events around Australia on the transition to a sustainable and ethical culture.
Shivaun Conn, BSc(Nutr)Hons, APD, AN
Shivaun is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD), Accredited Nutritionist (AN) Health Coach, Certified Trainer & Assessor, Director of Discovery Health Coaching and Vice President of the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine. Shivaun has worked for over 15 years as a dietitian, health coach and presenter.
She currently coaches individuals in nutrition and lifestyle, and delivers training for medical and allied health practitioners in health behaviour change, motivational interviewing, and health coaching. Shivaun has co-authored the ‘ASLM Eating Plan for People and Planet’, the Australian Institute of Fitness’ course ‘Nutrition Coach’ and regularly presents at health conferences around Australia.
Your Education Coordinator
Jordhana Clark, BHSc (Nat), AdvDip (YT)
Jordhana Clark is the Education Coordinator at ASLM. She holds a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) and has a particular interest in mental health and wellbeing. She is instrumental in developing ASLM’s workshops, online learning, international board certification and fellowship program. She also has responsibility for assessing fellowship RPL applications, supervising the scientific stream at the Lifestyle Medicine conferences and liaising with all applicants and candidates as needed.
