Coronavirus – conference rescheduled

ANNOUNCEMENT

  • Lifestyle Medicine 2020 will now be held 4-6 December 2020 at the same venue (Pullman Albert Park) in Melbourne
  • We will also be holding a specially designed two-day international online summit on Saturday and Sunday 16-17 May 2020

Dear friends and colleagues

We’ve been working around the clock to bring you a decisive, early and positive response to the Coronavirus/conference situation.

Our primary concern has been not to risk a transmission event at our conference which could also cause hundreds of frontline health professionals to be quarantined. Increasingly employers, especially universities, have been issuing travel bans making it difficult for speakers and delegates to attend. And now the government has announced that gatherings of 500 or more people should be cancelled.

We realise that this decision will be inconvenient and costly to some of you and we sincerely apologise for having to take this action.

However, we are pleased to be able to announce:

  • Lifestyle Medicine 2020 will now be held 4-6 December 2020 at the same venue (Pullman Albert Park) in Melbourne
  • We’ve confirmed that Dr Michael Mosley (UK), Coach Margaret Moore (US) and virtually all the same presenters will be there in December
  • The international board certification exam will now be held on Thursday 3 December at the same venue (later moved to 8-9 Nov global online sitting of the IBLM exam)
  • The Leadership in Lifestyle Medicine Masterclass with Margaret Moore will also be held as planned on Thursday 3 Dec
  • All registrations and exhibition space for the May conference or exam will be automatically transferred to the December event
  • Those who have booked accommodation at the Pullman for May will need to cancel or transfer this directly with the hotel and most airlines are now allowing changes to flights free of charge
  • We will be returning to super early bird pricing for the December event, therefore we will conduct a review of the price each delegate has paid and will issue partial refunds to those who have paid more than the current rate to ensure no one is disadvantaged
  • The December conference will maintain the existing program and format but there will of course be a few changes to workshops and presenters
    • Additionally, the new conference will be prepared for live streaming and recording for later viewing as an alternate form of delivery
    • This means that the conference won’t be postponed a second time – if required, it will be delivered in a modified format online instead of in-person
  • We will also be holding a specially designed two-day international online summit on the weekend of the May conference, 16-17 May 2020
    • This summit will be free of charge to those who maintain their registrations for the December conference. You’ll also be able to watch the summit in your own time
    • You can expect an announcement of the summit speaker line-up in the next 2-3 weeks and your complimentary registration will be sent to you on 11 May
  • Due to the scale of this situation, refund requests will take some time and will be addressed on a case by case basis over the next few weeks
  • It will also take us some time to reply to an exceptional amount of correspondence, so we do ask for your patience

We look forward to bringing you an even more inspirational Lifestyle Medicine 2020 as summer starts in December!
